The Stewart Paving Team...

|
Mike Stewart started in the block and paver industry more than four decades ago as part of the family business. Mike's grandfather started Columbia Block in 1958 with his father joining a year or two later. Mike joined in at age ten as a mud picker at Columbia Sand and Gravel Company eventually becoming vice president of the same company shortly after college. As Mike grew and attended school he had the fortune of fulfilling many jobs and positions with the Columbia companies as they grew from a single machine block facility to a ten block machine operation located at three sites, three redi-mix concrete locations, three sand and gravel operations, and an insulation company until 1980 when they were finally sold.
After the sale of the Columbia companies, Mike purchaed an existing one machine block plant from Willie Pittman and a brick manufacturing plant from Arizona Brick and renamed them into a single company - Stewart Block and Brick. During the course of the next 20 years Stewart expanded to a two block machine facility in Tucson and set up a second plant in Phoenix until 2000 when he and his partners sold the company. Mike remained with the new company, Arizona Block 2000, until 2001 when he and Dave Dalton (a previous customer and friend) formed Stewart Paving and Wall Systems. Mike currently holds an ICPI certification and is instrumental in customer relations as well as the knowledge base for the company.
